Zhangjiajie Travel Expert FAQs

How many days do I need for a Zhangjiajie tour?

3 to 4 days covers the core highlights: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and Tianmen Mountain. Add 1 day for the Glass Bridge at Grand Canyon, and another 2 days if you want to include Fenghuang Ancient Town or Furong Ancient Town. Most of our clients find 5 to 6 days is the right length to see the region without feeling rushed.

How much does a private Zhangjiajie tour cost?

A 4-day private tour starts from USD 590 per person for a group of 2. The 5-day tour with the Glass Bridge and Tianmen Mountain starts from around USD 760 per person. Prices include your guide, private vehicle, accommodation(4*), and entrance tickets. International flights and most meals are not included.

When is the best time to visit Zhangjiajie?

Spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) are the best months, with mild temperatures, moderate crowds, and the misty views the sandstone pillars are known for. Summer is clear but peak season with long queues. Winter is quiet but the Glass Bridge and some trails may close in icy conditions.

Are Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Tianmen Mountain, and the Glass Bridge in the same area?

No — this is the most common source of confusion for first-time visitors. Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (Wulingyuan Scenic Area) is the main park, covering Yuanjiajie (Avatar Mountains), Tianzi Mountain, Huangshizhai, and Golden Whip Stream. Tianmen Mountain is a separate attraction above Zhangjiajie City. The Glass Bridge is at Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, about 40 minutes from the main park. All three require separate tickets — we handle the routing and bookings for you.

How do I book tickets for Zhangjiajie?

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park tickets can be booked online via Klook, Trip.com, or on-site at the park gate with your passport. The standard 4-day pass (CNY 239) includes in-park shuttle buses, with optional add-ons for cableways and the Bailong Elevator. Book 2 to 3 days ahead during peak season (March to November). Tianmen Mountain and the Glass Bridge each require separate tickets and advance booking. We handle all reservations for you — particularly useful as some platforms require a Chinese phone number or ID to complete the purchase.
