Upon arrival in Beijing, your local guide will greet and assist you to the hotel. The rest of today is yours to stay in the hotel to rest, or just walk around to get a better understanding of the city. Beijing is a famous ancient city, the modern capital of China, so we have dedicated 4 days to explore the many attractions that are not to be missed. Welcome to China and let's begin to explore the unique culture of the worlds largest country.
Start your day with a visit to Tiananmen Square, the largest public square in the world. Located at the heart of Beijing, it is a symbolic center of China's political and cultural life. At the north end of the square, explore the Forbidden City, the former imperial palace complex that housed 24 emperors during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Forbidden City is renowned for its vast collection of ancient wooden structures, offering a glimpse into the opulent life of China’s imperial court.
In the morning, you will also visit Jingshan Park, located just behind the Forbidden City. Climb to the top for a stunning panoramic view of Beijing, including a majestic perspective of the Forbidden City's red roofs and the bustling city beyond.
In the afternoon, head to the Summer Palace, a royal garden retreat from the Qing Dynasty. Surrounded by the scenic Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake, the palace is home to impressive pavilions, bridges, and palaces, providing a peaceful and visually captivating experience.
In the evening, you may opt to enjoy a Chinese Kung Fu Show, an optional cultural performance showcasing traditional Chinese martial arts and acrobatics.
This morning, drive about 1.5 hours to visit the Mutianyu Great Wall, one of the best-preserved and most scenic sections of the Wall. For easier access, you can take a cable car to the top. For a fun descent, try the toboggan ride down (optional, with an additional fee). Spend time walking along the ancient ramparts and soaking in panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
On your return to Beijing, stop to explore one of the Ming Tombs—the Changling Tomb, known as the largest and best-preserved of the 13 imperial mausoleums. Often called a “miniature Forbidden City,” it offers insight into Ming Dynasty architecture and burial customs.
Before heading back, make a brief stop at the Olympic Green to see the iconic Bird’s Nest and Water Cube from the outside (entrance not included).
You’ll have the option to end the day at your hotel or be dropped off at Donghuamen Night Market for a local culinary adventure.
Begin your morning with a visit to the Temple of Heaven, where emperors once held grand ceremonies to pray for peace and bountiful harvests. In the early hours, the surrounding park comes alive with locals practicing tai chi, dancing, and playing traditional games, a perfect window into daily life in Beijing.
Next, head to the historic Shichahai area, where you’ll explore the atmospheric hutongs by rickshaw and visit a traditional courtyard residence. Enjoy a stroll along Yandai Xiejie (Tobacco Pipe Lane) and stop by the Drum Tower, taking in the charm of old Beijing.
If time is allowed, pay a visit to Prince Gong’s Mansion (Gongwang Fu), a grand Qing Dynasty residence once home to one of the empire’s most powerful officials. Discover its elaborate halls, elegant courtyards, and tranquil gardens as you delve into the mansion’s rich history.
In the late afternoon, take a high-speed train to Xi'an (approximately 4.5 hours). Upon arrival, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel.
This morning, drive out to visit the extraordinary Terracotta Warriors, one of China’s most iconic archaeological discoveries and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dating back over 2,200 years, this massive army of life-sized clay soldiers was created to guard the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, China’s first emperor. With each figure uniquely crafted, this ancient wonder offers an awe-inspiring glimpse into the grandeur of imperial China.
Return to the city in the afternoon and visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a significant Tang Dynasty landmark originally built in 652 AD to house Buddhist scriptures brought back from India by the monk Xuanzang. The pagoda stands as a symbol of the fusion of cultures and faiths that shaped early Chinese civilization.
Later, immerse yourself in the energy of the Muslim Quarter, a lively hub of Xi’an’s Hui ethnic culture. Wander through its bustling alleys filled with aromatic street food, traditional snacks, and local crafts.
In the evening, you can enjoy the optional Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show, featuring a dumpling banquet and colorful performances that revive the elegance of China’s golden age. Alternatively, explore the glittering Datang Everbright City (Datang Sleepless City) on your own, where modern lights meet historical charm in a dynamic cultural zone.
Overnight in Xi’an.
Spend your final morning in Xi’an diving deeper into its cultural heritage. Start with a visit to the Beilin Museum (Forest of Stone Steles Museum), home to over 3,000 engraved stone tablets featuring ancient Chinese calligraphy, classical texts, and Confucian teachings—a must-see for history and art enthusiasts.
Next, explore the ancient Xi’an City Wall, one of the oldest and best-preserved city walls in China. You can walk or rent a bike to ride along the top of the wall (bike rental at your own expense) while enjoying panoramic views of the city. Afterwards, stroll through Shuyuanmen Cultural Street, known for its charming atmosphere, traditional architecture, and abundance of calligraphy shops, local eateries, and souvenir stands.
In the late afternoon, transfer to Xi'an airport for the evening flight to Zhangjiajie. Upon arrival, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel in Wulingyuan.
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is known for its towering sandstone pillars and misty peaks, the landscapes that inspired Avatar’s Hallelujah Mountains. As part of the UNESCO-listed Wulingyuan Scenic Area, it offers some of China’s most iconic mountain scenery.
Begin your day with a ride on the world’s highest and fastest outdoor elevator, taking you straight up to Yuanjiajie, one of the most iconic parts of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. This area is famous for its towering sandstone pillars, deep misty valleys, and soaring viewpoints. Here you’ll see the well-known First Bridge, a natural stone arch stretching 20 meters between two peaks, creating one of the park’s most photographed scenes.
After lunch, continue to Tianzi Mountain, named after Xiang Dakun of the Tujia ethnic group. Known as the “Monarch of the Peaks,” Tianzi Mountain offers stunning views of layered stone pillars, drifting clouds, and dramatic ridgelines. On clear days after rainfall, the landscape becomes especially magical.
After a full day of spectacular scenery, return to your hotel in Wulingyuan district.
Start your day at the Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge, the world’s longest and highest glass-bottomed bridge. Walk across for thrilling views of the Grand Canyon beneath your feet. Afterward, enjoy a comfortable two-hour hike through the canyon, passing waterfalls, streams, and lush vegetation along the way.
In the afternoon, continue to Baofeng Lake, where a short walk brings you to a tranquil boat ride surrounded by steep cliffs and calm emerald waters. Local folk songs performed by boatmen often add to the atmosphere. If you’re interested in cultural experiences, you may also choose to visit a Tu minority family for insight into their traditions and enjoy a home-style dinner (optional, additional cost).
In the morning, drive to Tianmen Mountain, located just outside Zhangjiajie City. Ascend by cable car and spend the morning exploring its dramatic cliffside walkways, panoramic viewpoints, and the famous natural arch known as Heaven’s Door. Enjoy the impressive mountain scenery before returning to the base.
After lunch, head to the 72 Qilou (72 Strange Buildings) District, an atmospheric old street area featuring traditional Tujia-style stilted houses, local snacks, handicraft shops, and cultural performances. It’s a lively place to stroll, take photos, and experience the local heritage.
In the late afternoon, transfer to the Zhangjiajie railway station for your high-speed train to Chengdu (about 4 hours). Upon arrival, your Chengdu guide and driver will meet you and take you to your hotel.
This morning, around 07:30–08:00, you'll be transferred to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, one of the best places to see China’s beloved national treasure up close. Arrive in time to catch the pandas during their active morning feeding—watch them munch bamboo, climb trees, and play with one another. Don’t miss the Panda Story Cinema, where you’ll gain deeper insight into panda conservation efforts through an engaging short film.
Afterwards, return to downtown Chengdu and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Then head to People’s Park, a lively local spot where residents gather for tai chi, dancing, and tea. Relax at a traditional open-air tea house and enjoy a glimpse into Chengdu’s laid-back lifestyle.
