Spring (April–June) and autumn (September–October) are the best times to tour along the Silk Road, when the weather is mild and pleasant. Summer can be very hot, especially in the desert regions of Dunhuang and Turpan, but is good for highland areas like Yining Grassland and Kanas lake in Xinjiang, while winters brings fewer crowds and unique cultural experiences.

5–7 days: Shorter Silk Road tours focus on one region, such as Dunhuang and Jiayuguan or Turpan and Kashgar.
