Old Tingri Road to Everest Base Camp Blocked by Snow
Phailin Cyclone left the road to Everest Base Camp in Tingri County blocked by 45 cm. (18 in.) of snow on October 14.
At the time of the snow made the road inaccessible there where 86 travelers stuck at Rongbuk Monastery, a popular guest hose at Everest Base Camp. Everyone was reported in good spirits with no serious injuries.
At present the local government has been taking active steps to clear the road and keep it open. The Nepal / China border was temporarily closed as a result of the snow, but has been reopened as of October 16th.
