Itinerary
The Tibet Nyingchi Peach Blossom & Everest Base Camp Tour is a two week Tibet journey that combines Tibet’s seasonal beauty, cultural treasures, and Himalayan adventure.
Begin in Nyingchi during the Peach Blossom Festival, when valleys burst into pink and white blooms, explore Bomi Peach Blossom Valley, Ranwu Lake, Midui Glacier, and Basumtso Lake. Continue to Lhasa, the capital of Tiet, and discover its spiritual landmarks including the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street, Drepung, and Sera Monasteries. Travel along the China Nepal friendship highway acrossing the plateau to Yamdrok Lake, Gyantse, and Shigatse, before reaching Everest Base Camp, where breathtaking views of the world’s highest peak await.
This two week Tibet tour offers the best of Nyingchi’s springtime scenery, Tibetan culture, and the once-in-a-lifetime adventure of Everest, all in one unforgettable journey. The best time to take this tour is from late March to mid-April, during the Peach Blossom Festival.
Nyingchi, often called the ‘Switzerland of Tibet,’ is known for its lush forests, clear rivers, sparkling lakes, and snow-capped peaks—a beautiful contrast to the rest of Tibet. Each spring, from late March to mid-April, peach blossoms blanket the valleys in pink and white, turning the region into one of Tibet’s most breathtaking sights.
Upon arrival at Nyingchi Mainling Airport, your Tibetan guide and driver will meet you. On the way to Bayi town, stop at Duodang Village, one of the best places to enjoy the peach blossoms. Compared with the better-known Gala Village, Duodang is quieter and less crowded, offering a more authentic and peaceful experience. In spring, the landscape bursts into layers of color — pink peach blossoms, golden rapeseed fields, green barley terraces, and snow-capped peaks in the distance.
After the visit, continue to Bayi town for hotel check-in. The rest of the day is for rest and acclimatization, giving you time to adjust to the altitude. Overnight in Bayi.
Driving Distance: 230 km, Approx. 5-6 hours
After breakfast, visit Gala Peach Blossom Village, the centerpiece of Nyingchi’s annual Peach Blossom Festival. From late March to mid-April, the orchards here burst into pink and white flowers, set against snow-covered peaks and green valleys — a perfect place to take in the beauty of spring.
Continue driving to Sejila Pass (4,728 m), known for its colorful rhododendron forests and its sweeping mountain views. On clear days, you may catch a breathtaking glimpse of Mt. Namche Barwa (7,782 m), one of Tibet’s highest and most striking peaks.
On the way to Bomi, stop at Guxiang Lake, a peaceful alpine lake ringed by mountains and forests. Its still waters reflect the surrounding peaks, creating a quiet and picturesque scene.
By evening, arrive in Bomi, a charming town surrounded by forests and glaciers, where you’ll spend the night and relax after a day of travel and exploration.
Today you’ll spend the day exploring the Bomi Peach Blossom Valley, one of the most beautiful spots of the annual Nyingchi Peach Blossom Festival. Compared with the well-known Gala Peach Blossom Village, Bomi feels more authentic and less crowded, with entire valleys turning pink and white each spring.
Because of the altitude, blossoms here don’t all appear at the same time. Villages like Galang and Runa usually bloom earlier, while higher places such as Qingduo and Yuxu come alive a little later. This staggered timing makes Bomi’s blossom season last longer, usually from late March through mid-April.
As you travel through villages including Galang, Runa, Tashi, Qingduo, Bakang, Baiyu, and Yuxu, you’ll be surrounded by peach orchards framed by snow-capped peaks and forests. Along the way, you’ll also experience the slower pace of Tibetan village life, where farming traditions and local stories are closely tied to the peach trees.
Return to Bomi town in the evening for an overnight stay.
Driving Distance: Approx. 250 km, 5-6 hours
Begin the day in Bomi, setting out along the G318 Highway, one of Tibet’s most scenic drives. The route winds past dense forests, rushing rivers, and towering peaks, making the journey itself part of the adventure. You can make several stops on the way to take photos of villages, mountains, bridge and rivers.
Arrive at Ranwu Lake, the largest lake in eastern Tibet. Its turquoise waters, set against snow-capped mountains, create postcard-perfect reflections. Spring brings peach blossoms along the shores, while autumn transforms the surrounding forests into golden hues, making both seasons especially stunning.
On the return journey, stop at the Midui Glacier, recognized as one of the most beautiful glaciers in China. Here, massive icefalls descend from the peaks into a landscape of forests, lakes, and villages — a rare and dramatic combination.
By evening, return to Bomi for an overnight stay.
Driving Distance: Approx. 230 km, 4.5-5 hours
After breakfast, depart Bomi and head to Tashigang Village, a peaceful Tibetan settlement nestled among beautiful mountain landscapes. The village offers a glimpse into traditional rural life, with its terraced fields and simple stone houses.
Continue to Lulang Forest, a scenic pine forest known for its lush greenery and vibrant spring blooms. The area is home to diverse wildlife and offers a tranquil atmosphere, perfect for nature lovers and photographers alike.
Finally, drive on to Bayi Town for overnight.
Driving Distance: Approx. 470 km, 7-8 hours
Today, you’ll continue westward towards Lhasa, following the course of the Nyang River, a tributary of the Yarlung Tsangpo River, offering stunning views of the rugged Tibetan Plateau. Along the way, make a detour to visit Draksum Tso Lake, a revered holy site in Tibetan Buddhism, particularly by the Nyingmapa school. This crescent-shaped lake is nestled in a mountain gorge, known for its clear, azure waters. From the Daqiela Viewing Platform, take in panoramic views of the lake, framed by lush forests and towering snow-capped peaks. On the heart-shaped island in the lake stands the Tsodzong Monastery, a 1,500-year-old temple that exudes peace and spirituality.
Enjoy a relaxing boat ride on Draksum Tso Lake, surrounded by blooming peach blossoms, adding a lovely contrast against the emerald green forests and the snow-capped mountains.
Afterward, continue your drive to Lhasa, passing Mila Pass (5,013 meters), the final mountain pass before descending into the fertile valley that leads to Lhasa.
Start your exploration of Lhasa with a visit to the iconic Potala Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most important landmarks in Tibet. This stunning structure, once the winter residence of the Dalai Lama, offers breathtaking views and intricate Tibetan architecture. You’ll then head to Jokhang Temple, another UNESCO-listed site and the spiritual heart of Lhasa. This temple is revered by Tibetans as the holiest site in the region. Afterward, take a stroll through the Barkhor Street, a bustling pilgrimage route surrounding the Jokhang Temple. This vibrant market offers a glimpse into Tibetan culture, with street vendors selling traditional items, and locals performing their religious rituals.
Today, visit two of the most important monasteries in Lhasa: Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery. Drepung, once the largest monastery in the world, offers a fascinating insight into Tibetan Buddhism, with its grand halls and spiritual atmosphere. Then, head to Sera Monastery, known for its lively debates among monks (15:00 - 17:00, available from Monday to Saturday), who engage in intellectual discussions about Buddhist philosophy. Both monasteries showcase Tibetan religious traditions and beautiful Tibetan architecture.
Driving Distance: Approx. 360 km, 6-7 hours / Highlights: Yamdrok Lake, Karola Glacier, and Gyantse Kumbum.
Yamdrok Lake, one of the three holiest lakes in Tibet, is easily accessible from Lhasa. Upon reaching Gampala Pass (4790m), you will get your first glimpse of Yamdrok-tso (4400m). The lake is encircled by numerous snow-capped mountains and offers breathtaking views of Holy Mount Nyenchen Khangsar (7191m), the tallest mountain near Lhasa. You will drive along the lakeshore for about half an hour, during which time you can step out of the car to touch the lake's blue waters and take photos. At the end of the lake, enjoy your lunch at a local Tibetan family.
Karo La Glacier, at an altitude of 5,100 meters, provides a stunning overlook of Mt. Nyenchen Kangsar glacier. A brief stop is scheduled here for an excellent photo opportunity.
In Gyantse city, visit the famous stupa - Gyantse Kumbum, one of the most stunning architectural wonders in Tibet. If time is allowed, wonder around in the Gyantse ancient city and take photos.
Afterward drive from Gyantse to Shigatse, the 2nd largest city in Tibet. Stay overnight at Shigatse.
