New Flights Beign From Chengdu to Tibet Shigatse Peace Airport
Tibet Airlines began direct flights from Chengdu, Sichuan to Sigatse, Tibet on April 2, 2013. Flight TV9843 departed bright and early at 6:20 a.m. This flight marks a major milestone for Tibet Airlines (TV) now offering service between all (5) five Tibetan Airports. They include the main Lhasa Gonggar Airport, Ngari Gunsa Airport, Nyingchi Mainling Airport, Qamdo Bamda Airport and Shigatse Peace Airport.
Initial flight service is scheduled for (3) three times a week every Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The flight time between Chengdu and Shigatse Tibet is just under 2 hours and 30 minutes. Flights from Tibet to Chengdu return on the same days departing at 9:30 a.m. and landing 11:40 a.m. in Chengdu.
Shigatse, the second biggest city in the Tibet Autonomous Region, is one of the most popular cities that foreign travels after the capital city of Lhasa. Shigatse is one of the main stopping points along any trip to Mount Everest. With many cultural sites that include the Tashilhunpo Monastery, once the seat of the Panchen Lama along with the old Shigatse Market.
