Transportation at Mt. Emei
Sichuan’s astounding Mount Emei lies 7 km (4.3 miles) southwest of Emei town and 37 km (23 miles) east of Leshan, located to the south of Chengdu, China.
Public buses run frequently between Mount Emei and Emei town, making it convenient for tourists to reach the beautiful mountain attraction. The cost for a bus ride is only 2 RMB, or you can take a taxi to Baoguo Temple from Emei town for around 20 RMB.
On the return trip, mini-buses and taxis run back from Baoguo to Emei town for the same price – you’ll find them patrolling around the bus station, next to the Teddy Bear Cafe. Buses also run between Leshan and Emei town every half hour from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
From the bus station at Baoguo Temple, you can catch buses to Chengdu from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm daily, and buses to Chongqing between 7:30 am to 4:00 pm daily. The bus from Chengdu to Emei town runs often, departing from Chengdu’s Xinnanmen bus station (成都新南门汽车站) all throughout the day. The trip takes 2 hours and tickets cost around 40 RMB.
