6 days Picturesque Tibet tour with Nyingchi visit

Upon arrival at Lhasa airport or train station, You will be greeted by your Tibetan tour guide & driver and transferred to your hotel in Lhasa downtown. It is about 70km from Lhasa Gongga airport to Lhasa downtown and it takes about one and half hour, from the train station to Lhasa downtown it is only 15km and it takes 20 minutes. Afternoon have a good rest to acclimatize the high altitude. Overnight at Lhasa. 

Today is your first day of sightseeing on the high plateau, so we have purposely arranged you only to visit Potala Palace and Jokhang temple. Both of them are the focal points of pilgrims from entire Tibetan world, multitudinous pilgrims are circumambulating and prostrating in their strong faith.

Potala Palace is the worldwide known cardinal landmark of Tibet. The massive structure itself contains a small world within it. Mostly it is renowned as residence of the Dalai Lama lineages (Avalokiteshvara).

Jokhang temple is the most scared shrine in Tibet built in the 7th century and it is located at the heart of old town in Lhasa, the circuit around it called Barkhor street, which is a good place to explore the workshops and purchase some souvenirs. If you are doing well, we can also include a walk tour in the Lhasa old town to discover locals' market, workshops and some small temples, walking around the small alleys will create you a chance to see local Tibetan's life.

Today you will be arranged to visit Drepung monastery in the morning and Sera monasteries in the afternoon. Both Drepung and Sera monasteries are Gelugpa (yellow hat) sect monastic colleges. Drepung monastery was the seat of the Government prior to Potala, it was once the world largest monastery in the history with 10,000 monks hailed from different monasteries all over Tibet. Sera monastery is famous for its Buddhism philosophical debate practice, the clapping sound and aggressive expression of the monks are well worth to see. Overnight at Lhasa.

After breakfast, drive from Lhasa to Bayi, cross over Mila Pass (5100m), enjoy the scenery along the Niyang River. Afternoon visit Draksum-tso (also called Basum-Tso) lake, one of the most beautiful lakes in eastern Tibet Nyingchi region. This holy lake is beautified by its surrounding landscapes from green & forested mountains to snow capped peaks, and is connected to the semi-mythical ruler of the Kham region and Guru Rinpoche. The joint board floating bridge is the only way to the Tsodzong island, here you will visit the Tsodzong Monastery amid of the trees, which is most probably the highest attraction of this site. Then retrace the way to the Highway that joins at Pahe village and continuous drive about 79km further to Bayi. Overnight at Bayi town.

Today you will spend a day to explore Nyingchi's highlights - morning drive to visit the Giant Cypress Park, the king cypress in the reserve is about 50 meters tall and is about 2,500 years old.

Then drive up to Serkhym-la pass (4582m), enjoy some of the most beautiful areas in Eastern Tibet, especially if you travel in the month of June when the azaleas flowers are in bloom. After you get down from the pass to Lulang Forest, you will have the dramatic views of Mount Namche Barwa (7756m), Gyala Pelri (7151m) and panorama of meadow scenery of the LuLang forest. Nestled between the mountains and glaciers, Lulang Forest (3700m) is a typical highland meadow strip, and both sides of Castle Peak from low to high from the dense bushes, spruce trees and pine. Afternoon drive back to Bayi. Overnight at Bayi town.
