Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport

When you travel to China, Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport is a good entry point due to its many connecting flights and friendly service. It is known primarily for domestic flights and international service within Asia.

If you are thinking about taking a tour of Shanghai, it’s a one of a few places you may arrive. Along with Shanghai Pudong International Airport, Hongqiao is one of two major Shanghai Airports. Hongqiao is located in the western suburbs, 13 km. (8 mi.) from downtown. It has been enlarged many times and is now one of the largest airports in China.

Shanghai Hongqiao Airport Terminals

Hongqiao Airport has two terminals – T1 and T2. Terminal 1 is mainly for international flights (for example, Hong Kong, Japan and Korea).

Terminal 2 is much larger than Terminal 1 and handles domestic flights primarily. The hot line of Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport is 96990.

Shanghai Hongqiao Airport Access and Services

Both terminals are served by the Shanghai Metro. Terminal 1 is only directly served by Metro Line 10. Passengers can take either Metro 2 or 10 directly to the T2 building.

Both Metro lines also stop at the Hongqiao Railway Station, which is adjacent to the airport on a high-speed rail line.

In addition to the Metro, passengers can choose bus, taxi, or shuttle bus service to get from Hongqiao Airport to the city. The transportation options at the Shanghai Airports are very convenient for passengers.

Passengers who want to store their luggage can go to the Guest Welcome Hall. Hotel booking and cars rental locations are in the central area on the 1st floor. For currency exchange, you can go to the 3rd floor.

All major currencies are available for exchange. In the public area, free Wi-Fi is available for passengers. The children’s club is located on the M2 floor of T2 near boarding gates 25 and 71. The smoking areas are located near T1’s A9, A10, B6, B8 and B15 gates.

Food At Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport

There are many restaurants for both Chinese food and western food. Passengers can go to Yonghe King and Cheerway for Chinese food in T1. You can visit Brico Café or KFC for western food.

Coffee shops like Pacific Coffee can be found in T1. There are many other restaurants in T2, for example, Kungfu, Yonghe, Moslem Restaurant, McDonald’s, Haagen-Dazs, and Subway. For cafes, you will find Starbucks and Costa Coffee in T2.
