Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall

Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is located in the Zhongshan district of Guangzhou city, Guangdong province. Covering an area of 8,400 sq.m.(2 acres), it was built in the year 1982 to remember Sun Yat-sen, a great man and a pioneer in the Chinese democratic revolution. Nowadays it is not only a memorial hall for celebrity but also an peculiar architectural building regarded as a cultural heritage which attracted many tourists from home and abroad. 

As the foremost pioneer of Nationalist China, Sun Yat-sen is frequently referred as the “Father of the Nation” (国父), a view agreed upon by both the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of China.

Sun is one of the leaders of the modern China and played a great role in the history. Nowadays he is remembered because of his great contribution to the building and development of China. 

The most out standing feature is a bronze statue of Sun Yat-sen front of the memorial hall, which was set up in 1956. Stepping on to the old spiral staircase, you are presented with a panorama of the memorial hall.

The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Guangzhou also stands out for its novel architectural style. Looking from the sky, it looks like a Chinese character “中 (zhong)”, and looking from the ground level,it looks like a “山(shan)”.

It is divided into the front, middle and back halls. There are white marble sculpture of Sun Yat-sen, Zhongshan achievements exhibition in the front hall, from which you can know more about the great man and Chinese Culture.
