6 days Chengdu & Langzhong ancient city tour
Explore Langzhong ancient city at the banks of Jialing River, one of the Great Ancient cities in China. With over 2,300 year history and culture, you will spend about 2 days to discover its traditional architecture and interesting locals' life.
Itinerary
Langzhong is situated in the northern Sichuan Basin on the middle reaches of the Jialing River, a branch of the Yangtze. Emperor Qin Hui established Langzhong County in 314 B.C., and it is the only county that has retained its original name. Till now Langzhong still has kept its ancient town of 1.5 square kilometers in good repair. In 1986, the State Council named it a famous historic and cultural city. And in China, Langzhong is one of four old cities.
Chengdu airport pick up and transfer to your hotel. Have a good rest at the first day. Overnight at Chengdu.
B=breakfast
In the morning set out to the Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center, it takes about half an hour. You will watch pandas' feeding time, they are at their most active, both Adults and Babies. Later then watch the film at Panda Story Cinema to know the pandas' daily life, including their birth, mating and more.
Afternoon visits People’s Park where the locals come to relax and pursue their leisure activities, which will include dancing, singing, playing instruments, drinking tea, rowing a boat on the lake, etc. Here you will be arranged to drink eat at one of the open tea houses with locals.
Then head to Song Xian Qiao Antique and Art Market, the country's second-largest antique market, with more than 500 separate stalls selling everything from Mao-era currency to fake Buddha statues to wonderful watercolor paintings.
Then the rest of the day is for you to freely stroll along the Wide and Narrow alleys which is a conservation of old architectural structures that have been implanted with modern decoration in a bustling Chengdu city, it is an only area which recorded rich architectural and social characteristic feature about the residential building from Qing Dynasty till now. Here you can try a different type of local Chengdu snacks.
After breakfast, starts driving from Chengdu to Langzhong with about 3.5 hours drive, afternoon a guided tour in Langzhong Ancient city and Zhangfei Temple, you could meander on the path paved by Grey-slab, involve yourself in the ancient constructions and local customs. Overnight at Langzhong local courtyard hotel.
After breakfast, takes a ferry to cross the Jialingriver, then hike to Mt.Jinping Park, where you will have a good view of the Ancient part of Langzhong city. Afternoon visit Dongshan Garden scenic area, includes Grand Buddha Temple, Zhuangyuan Hole and White Tower (Still with a bit hike). Overnight at Langzhong.
Morning drive back to Chengdu via Deyang, en route you will be arranged to visit Sanxingdui. Sanxingdui is a cultural relic of the ancient Shu (Sichuan). It is an important archeological discovery which changed the people's understanding of ancient history and culture. To visit a place to know more about Sichuan Shu culture, this is the right place. Afterward, drive back to Chengdu. Check into your hotel, have a good rest.
