The Railway Construction From Lhasa to Shigatse Has Started
According to Tibet Business paper, Sep 28, Being an extension part of the famous Qinghai – Tibet Railway, the construction of Lhasa to Shigatse railway part has officially started on Sep 26.
In a total distance of 253km, Lhasa to Shigatse railway part is mainly consisted of bridge and tunnel, which occupied a 115km number, 45.7% of the total railway distance.
In order to protect the nature, the railway construction deliberately avoids many natural reserve and water source reserve along the way.
With a total National investment of 13.3 billion Yuan, this Lhasa to Shigatse railway project construction will take 4 years till its eventually finished. This railway system is hoped to bring the local tourism of Shigatse to another level.
