Today, you have the entire day to immerse yourself in the breathtaking beauty of Mount Huangshan, a UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage Site in China. This mountain is renowned for its uniquely shaped, surreal rock formations, sea of clouds, hot springs, winter snowscapes, and magnificent waterfalls, offering an ideal setting for hiking, photography, and sightseeing.
You'll start with 1.5 hours drive to the Huangshan Scenic Area. Get on the shuttle bus at the ticket office and reach the Yungu cable station, from where you will take the cable car up to the upper scenic area of Huangshan Mountain, known as the North Sea Scenic Area. This area is famous for its spectacular and precipitous peaks, stunning giant pine trees, and expansive panoramic views.
Your adventure begins with a walk to the lofty Begin-to-Believe Peak (Shixinfeng in Chinese) (1668 meters), where you can stretch your gaze over the sea of clouds, offering breathtaking vistas that stretch to the distant horizon. From here, you'll hike for about 40 minutes to reach Dispelling Cloud Pavilion (Paiyunting in Chinese), providing a captivating view of the Dreamland - West Sea Grand Canyon (please note that this area is closed from December to late March).
Continuing your journey, you'll walk for approximately 45 to 60 minutes, arriving at the renowned Flying-over Rock (Feilaishi in Chinese). It's a fascinating sight to behold, with a 12-meter-high giant rock standing firmly on a small, flat stone stage, a natural wonder millions of years in the making.
From Flying-over Rock, continue your walk for another 45 to 60 minutes to reach the Bright Top (Guangmingding in Chinese) (1860 meters), the mountain's second-highest peak and its central location. Take some time to explore, soak in the stunning scenery, and capture memorable photographs.
Finally, descend from the Bright Top for about 45 minutes to reach your hotel - Baiyun Hotel, where you can relax and recharge after a day of remarkable exploration.
Today, get up early (typically around 5 am to 6 am in winter) to witness the breathtaking sunrise over Huangshan. We recommend viewing the sunrise from the Refreshing Terrace, just a short walk from Beihai Hotel. On clear days, you can witness the golden sunlight piercing through the mist, casting an enchanting glow on the rocky peaks that rise above the ever-changing sea of white clouds. After this awe-inspiring sunrise, return to your hotel for breakfast.
After that, continue your exploration at Mount Huangshan by visiting Lion Peak, named for its resemblance to a crouching lion. You will see Dawn Pavilion and observe an intriguing rock formation known as 'Stone Monkey Watching Sea' before you board the Yuping cable car to begin your descent from the mountain. Upon reaching the mountain's exit, your driver will be waiting to pick you up and transfer you to the Huangshan Hot Spring Scenic Area. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to explore the surroundings and indulge in a relaxing hot spring experience.
Soaking in the hot springs is an excellent way to rejuvenate after a day of mountain hiking. The Hot Springs of Huangshan, renowned nationwide, have been a resort and health spa for over a thousand years. Nestled in the mountains, you'll find over 15 pools with various scents and therapeutic functions. The Hot Spring area also provides resort-like hotels, offering a comfortable stay after your sightseeing and hot spring indulgence.
After breakfast, you will have one-hour drive to Hongcun Village, renowned for its exceptional examples of ancient Huizhou-style architecture. This village is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with Xidi Village.
Originally established during the Song Dynasty (960-1276), Hongcun is often praised as the most beautiful village in China, earning its reputation as the "ancient village in the Chinese painting." The village was the home of successful local officials and merchants, and its layout was meticulously designed, harmonizing with China's geomantic principles and the natural environment. The houses, halls, and courtyards are exquisitely and grandiosely constructed, preserving much of their original features. Notable locations for photography include Moon Lake, a crescent-shaped pond surrounded by impressive residences, and Southern Lake situated in front of the village. It's worth noting that the famous Oscar-winning film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" was filmed in Hongcun.
Following your sightseeing in Hongcun, it's time for your departure. Your tour guide and driver will accompany you to catch your flight or train to your next destination. Our service concludes here.
