11 days Beijing to Tibet and Kathmandu via Everest Base Camp Group Tour
Itinerary
This 11 day Beijing and Tibet group tour begins in Beijing, where you'll visit the iconic Forbidden City and the stunning Mutianyu Great Wall, two of China’s most famous landmarks. After Beijing tour, you'll board the renowned Tibet train for a journey to Lhasa. Spanning nearly two weeks, the adventure starts in China’s capital, then takes you across the country to the once-inaccessible regions of the Tibetan Plateau.
Upon arriving in Tibet, you’ll join a 7-day group tour, visiting the highlights of Lhasa and then embarking on an overland journey from Lhasa to the Nepal border (Gyirong) with visit to Mount Everest Base Camp, along the Tibet-Nepal Friendship Highway. The tour ends at the border, where you can continue your journey to Kathmandu with our transfer (additional cost) or by local bus or car.
The group tour in Tibet is intentionally kept small, with no more than 12 people, ensuring a personal experience with a focus on cultural immersion and sightseeing.

Upon your arrival at Beijing Capital Airport or Beijing Train Station, you will be warmly greeted and transferred to your hotel. If arriving at Daxing Airport, an additional fee of 300 CNY (40 USD) will apply for the transfer. The rest of the day is free for you to explore Beijing or relax and recover from your jet lag.

Join a group tour to explore the stunning Mutianyu Great Wall, one of the most beautiful and peaceful sections near Beijing.
In the morning, make your way to Dongzhimen Station Exit B on Subway Line 2 (地铁2号线-东直门地铁B口) by 8:00 AM, where you’ll meet the group and board the bus for a scenic 1.5-hour drive to the Mutianyu Great Wall. Upon arrival, take the scenic shuttle bus up to the mountain and begin your self-guided exploration of the Great Wall for approximately 4 hours. Experience this historic site up close, capturing breathtaking views of the wall as it winds across the mountains. Unlike the busier Badaling section, Mutianyu offers a quieter, more serene atmosphere. You can choose to ascend by cable car, toboggan (additional fee), or enjoy a scenic hike on foot.
At 2:30 PM, return to the visitor center and enjoy a countryside-inspired buffet lunch or relax with a soothing tea break. Afterward, board the bus for a comfortable ride back to Beijing at 3:00 PM. You will be dropped off at the original meeting point and will need to make your own way back to your hotel.

In the morning, make your way to Jinyu Hutong Station Exit C on Subway Line 8 (地铁8号线金鱼胡同站C口) by 8:30 AM, where you’ll meet the group and walk to the Forbidden City (about 10 minutes). You’ll have a guided 4-hour tour to explore the Forbidden City, the largest surviving palace complex and former home to the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties. With 980 buildings and 8,707 bays of rooms, the Forbidden City is the best example of classical Chinese architecture in the world.
During your visit to the Forbidden City, you will also stop by the Royal Treasure Museum, which showcases priceless treasures from the imperial collection. Highlights include exquisite jade carvings, precious jewels, and imperial relics that were used by the emperors and their families, offering a glimpse into China's rich royal history.
The tour concludes at the North Gate of the Forbidden City around 12:30 PM. Afterward, you’ll need to make your own way back to the hotel or explore other nearby sites. We recommend visiting Jingshan Park, located just north of the Forbidden City. From the top of Jingshan Hill, enjoy a stunning panoramic view of the Forbidden City and the city of Beijing — perfect for photos!
At 5:20 PM, you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the train station for your overnight train to Lhasa (Z21, 19:22-11:42 AM +2 days).
Tip: Hotel check-out time is 12:00 PM. We suggest checking out before starting your tour this morning.

If you choose to book our optional transfer service to Kathmandu (an additional $60 USD), our local driver will meet you on the Nepalese side after you clear customs. The driver will assist with your Nepal visa application and provide transportation to your hotel in Kathmandu. Alternatively, you can also opt to take a local car or jeep on your own for the journey to Kathmandu, though this will be at your own expense.
Please note that the drive from the border to Kathmandu can take 8-9 hours due to rough road conditions, so be prepared for a long journey.
Tips: After crossing the border and entering Nepal, you will need to clear customs at the Nepal Immigration office. If you don’t already have a Nepalese visa, you can apply for one on arrival. The fee is typically 30 USD for a single-entry visa, valid for 15 days. Please prepare a passport photo in advance.
