Itinerary
The Chengdu Giant Panda Research and Breeding Center, also known as Panda Base, is one of the most successful of these panda institutes. In the 1970s, zoologists began working with six pandas, which has now grown to a population of 39 located at the base. The environment here is exquisitely designed with luxurious stands of bamboos. This sanctuary is home, not only to giant panda, but red pandas, black-necked cranes, golden monkeys, and flocks of wild birds.
This half day tour also includes the Chengdu Giant Panda Museum, which is built in 1992. It features popular exhibits in the appropriately named exhibition wings: Giant Panda Hall, Butterfly Hall and Vertebrate Hall. Giant Panda Hall is the first museum established for China's living national treasure and will provide you with a complete zoological record of the animal including fossil remains, ecological exhibits and history of the Chinese efforts to save this amazing animal.
Morning around 07:30-08:00 to be met at your hotel lobby and then transfer you to the Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center, which takes about half an hour. You will be able to watch the pandas during their feeding time, when they are at their most active, including both adult pandas and baby pandas. After that, you can watch a film at the Panda Story Cinema to learn more about the pandas' daily lives, including their birth and mating habits. Afterwards, drive back to your hotel around 11:00, end the trip.
