In the morning, around 09:00, you will be met and transferred to Leshan. Enjoy the beautiful countryside landscape of the Western Chengdu Plains during the two-hour drive. Upon arrival in Leshan, visit Lingyun Temple to see the magnificent Leshan Grand Buddha.
The Leshan Grand Buddha, completed in 803 during the Tang Dynasty, is the largest sitting stone sculpture in the world, standing 71 meters tall. Carved into the cliff face, it is an engineering marvel with a perfect balance and an advanced water drainage system. You also have the option to take a boat tour for a different view of the Grand Buddha.
In the afternoon, drive back to Chengdu and take a stroll through the charming Wide and Narrow Alleys (Kuanzhai Xiazi), where you can enjoy the blend of traditional and modern architecture. Sample delicious local snacks along the way.
In the evening, consider attending a Sichuan Opera performance (optional, not included), famous for its dramatic fire-spitting and face-changing acts.
In the morning, around 07:30-08:00, you'll be transferred to the Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center. Witness the pandas during feeding time, marveling at their playful antics and adorable cubs. Immerse yourself in their world with an engaging film at the Panda Story Cinema.
Afterwards, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, and continue exploring People's Park. Soak in the lively atmosphere as locals engage in various leisure activities. Take a relaxing moment to sip tea at one of the park's open tea houses.
In the afternoon, you will be transferred to Chengdu Eastern Train Station for your train travel to Jiuzhaigou (approximately a 2-hour ride). Upon arrival at Huanglong Jiuzhaigou Train Station, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel located just outside Jiuzhaigou Park (approximately a 2-hour drive). Enjoy a restful overnight stay in Jiuzhaigou.
Discover the breathtaking beauty of Jiuzhaigou National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its vibrant turquoise lakes, cascading waterfalls, and lush forests. Nestled in the mountains of Northern Sichuan, this natural wonder offers an enchanting escape into pristine landscapes and tranquil scenery.
Start your day with a morning pick-up from your hotel and head to Jiuzhaigou National Park. Begin exploring Shuzheng Valley, visiting highlights such as Reed Lake, Shuzheng Waterfall, and the stunning Shuzheng Lakes. Stop at the iconic Nuorilang Waterfall for photos before taking the shuttle to Rize Valley, where you’ll see the vibrant Five Flower Lake, the shimmering Pearl Shoal Waterfall, and the serene Mirror Lake, known for its breathtaking reflections.
In the afternoon, head to Zechawa Valley to explore Long Lake, the largest and deepest lake in the park, and the colorful Five-Color Pond, renowned for its crystal-clear water and vibrant hues. After a full day of sightseeing, meet your driver at the park entrance for your transfer back to the hotel in the late afternoon.
For an enhanced experience, consider enjoying an optional Tibetan cultural performance in the evening (price not included), featuring traditional music, dance, and vibrant costumes. Stay overnight at Jiuzhaigou.
In the morning, enjoy a scenic 2.5-hour drive from Jiuzhaigou to Huanglong National Park, renowned for its vibrant colored lakes, terraced pools, and breathtaking landscapes. Upon arrival, take a cable car to the upper area near Huanglong Temple and walk a short distance to the famous Five-Colored Ponds, celebrated for their vivid hues and crystal-clear water.
After marveling at the ponds, descend on foot, passing through terraced pools, serene forests, and unique geological formations, immersing yourself in Huanglong’s natural beauty. Spend 3-4 hours exploring the park before driving to the Huanglong Jiuzhaigou Train Station (30 minutes) for your train back to Chengdu. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel, concluding your unforgettable journey.
In the morning, you will be dropped off at Chengdu East Railway Station for your high speed train to Zhangjiajie (G2445, 08:00–11:58, about four hours). Upon arrival, your local guide will meet you and take you directly to Tianmen Mountain, the iconic peak just south of Zhangjiajie City. Often referred to as the soul of the region, Tianmen Mountain stands at about 1,520 meters and is celebrated for its dramatic cliffs, lush forests, and striking karst formations.
Your visit begins with a ride on the Tianmen Mountain Cableway, one of the longest and most scenic cable cars in the world. As you ascend, enjoy breathtaking views of the cliffs, forests, and the famous Avenue Toward Heaven, the winding mountain road with 99 bends. At the summit, explore Tianmen Temple before following the cliff side walkways. For the adventurous, the glass skywalks offer a thrilling experience, with clear panels revealing the sheer drop beneath your feet.
Continue by taking the escalator down to Tianmen Cave, the mountain’s most iconic natural landmark. This enormous arch stands 131 meters high and was formed entirely by natural erosion, earning its reputation as one of China’s most impressive geological wonders. If you are up for the challenge, you can descend the steep 999 steps leading to the base, a path long used by pilgrims visiting the cave.
After the visit, take the cable car back down the mountain. If time allows, stop at the 72 Qilou District, a lively old quarter known for its traditional Tujia style stilted houses, street snacks, handicraft stalls, and small cultural performances. It is an atmospheric place to stroll and experience local life.
End the day with a transfer to Wulingyuan, the scenic gateway to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, where you will stay overnight.
On the second day of your Zhangjiajie tour, you will have the opportunity to explore the breathtaking natural wonders of Yuanjiajie and Tianzi Mountain in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park.
Your adventure begins with a thrilling ride on the Bailong Elevator, the highest and fastest outdoor elevator in the world, which takes you to Yuanjiajie, often referred to as the "Backyard Garden" of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. This area is a core scenic spot within the Wulingyuan Scenic Area, boasting magnificent mountains and unique sandstone peaks. Covering a total area of 1,200 hectares at an altitude of 1,074 meters, Yuanjiajie is home to the famous First Bridge Under Heaven, a natural stone bridge spanning 20 meters across thin air between two peaks. As you explore the area, you will be captivated by majestic views of steaming valleys, rising mist, swaying pines, and whistling winds.
After lunch, you will visit Tianzi Mountain, named after Xiang Dakun, a leader of the Tujia ethnic minority uprising. Tianzi Mountain, often hailed as the "King of All Mountains," offers breathtaking vistas of seas of clouds and mist. The scenery becomes particularly enchanting after rain showers when the mist clears to reveal the dramatic sandstone peaks and verdant landscapes.
End the day with an overnight stay in Zhangjiajie
On your final day in Zhangjiajie, you can choose between two exciting options to wrap up your adventure:
Option 1: Further Explore Zhangjiajie National Forest Park - Huangshizhai & Golden Whip Creek
Start your morning with a cable car ride to the summit of Huangshizhai, where you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the towering peaks and enchanting primeval forests. The mist swirling around the peaks adds an ethereal charm, making it a truly mesmerizing experience. Afterward, visit Golden Whip Creek, named after a whip-shaped rock near the creek. This serene valley is a haven of exotic flowers, plants, caves, and fascinating rock formations. Take a leisurely stroll along the creek and immerse yourself in the tranquility of nature.
Option 2: Visit the Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge, Grand Canyon & Baofeng Lake
Begin your day with a visit to the Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge, the world’s longest and highest glass-bottomed bridge, offering breathtaking views of the Grand Canyon below. Follow this with a moderate 2-hour hike through the Grand Canyon, where you’ll encounter waterfalls, streams, and lush vegetation.
In the afternoon, drive to Baofeng Lake. After a short walk, enjoy a relaxing 30-minute boat ride to take in the stunning mountain scenery and listen to traditional local songs. For a cultural highlight, consider visiting a local Tu minority house to learn about their way of life and enjoy a traditional dinner featuring local cuisine (optional, additional cost).
In the evening, you will be transferred to Zhangjiajie Airport for your departure flight. Convenient flight options are available to major cities like Shanghai, Beijing, Xi’an, and beyond. If you need assistance with travel arrangements or flight options, your dedicated travel advisor will be happy to help you continue your journey through China.

Hi Jenna,
Thanks for your inquiry. But I am sorry to tell you that we don't have group tour for the 8 day Jiuzhaigou and Zhangjiajie tour, we only provide private tours for this itinerary, which means two of you will be a small group, accompanied by your own guide and car.
I have sent you one email regarding the quotation based on a private tour, please go through the details and let me know when you have any comments on the tour.
As you will travel during our National holiday which is considered as the golden week of tourism, the tour costs a bit higher than usual. So you may look for more travelers to join your group to reduce the cost. If you are interested, I can work out quotation based on different group size.
Best regards

Hello
I am interested in these destinations: Chengdu, JiuZaiGou, Huanglong but may not have time for ZhangJiaJie.
I will be with my adult daughter and we will be arriving in Chengdu from Shanghai.
Please let me know:
1. how much your 8 day tour is.
2. how much the tour is without ZhangJiaJie - 4 days.
3. if you can cut it short and change your 8 day tour itinerary, we would like to add one more day to JiuZaiGou and make it 5 days without Zhangjiajie.
4. Is there going to be a big difference in the crowds if we arrive on Oct 7th or Oct 8th?
5. We do not want to visit Xian as we have already been there. To avoid this on Day 6 of the 8 day tour, what days of the week should we start the 8 day tour?
6. Can you be paid in RMB since my daughter is in Shanghai..?
Thank you
Hello Laureen,
Thanks for your comments! This is Yuki from WindhorseTour. Chinese National Holidays fall from October 1st to 7th, so most people return to work on October 8th, so there is no big difference on October 7th or 8th. However, Jiuzhaigou is always very crowded for the first 2-3 weeks of October because that's the best time for the autumn views!
I have sent you an email with detailed itinerary & quotation, please check the details and feel free to contact me for the comments and thoughts you may have.
Look forward to hearing from you soon!
Best Regards,
Yuki

My husband and I are interested in the above trip. Here are a few questions:
1. Do you do private tour for two persons?
2. How many people will be on the trip: guide / driver = 2pax or is it driver cum guide?
3. For Zhangjiajie, do we have to cross the glass bridge? Is there another way to get across without using the bridge?
4. How many meals are provided?
5. Do we know the names of the hotel which we are staying in? Can we request for a change?
6. Finally, how much does it cost to do the above itinerary?
Thank you and looking forward to hear from you soon.
