Sichuan's Jiuzhaigou is famous for its spectacular scenery and also for the large number of tourists that the three main valleys attract, which at times has resulted in bus loads of tourists and crowded footpaths. However, Jiuzhaigou's more remote Zharu Valley is in a quiet area of the national park that few tourists ever visit, a fantastic spot for eco-tourists to explore.

Day 01 :
Arrive at Jiuzhaigou airport; visit Huanglong National Park in the afternoon.

Upon arrival at the Jiu-Huang airport, your local guide and driver will pick you up and drive to Huanglong Park (2 hour drive). Huanglong National Park is well known for its colorful lakes, snow capped mountains, valleys, and virgin forests. Depending on your inclinations and physical adjustment to the altitude, you can choose to see the park on foot or by cable car.

Afterwards, drive to Jiuzhaigou and overnight there.

Note:

1. There are daily flights to Jiuzhaigou from Chengdu, Chongqing, Xi'an, Beijing and Shanghai, but Chengdu, Chongqing, and Xi'an offer the most flight options. Please adjust your tour plans according to the flight schedule.

2. If you arrive at Jiuzhaigou airport in the afternoon, then we will adjust the tour itinerary and arrange you to visit Huanglong National Park at the end of the trip.

Day 02 :
Jiuzhaighou Main Valleys Tour (B)

You will spend your first full day at Jiuzhaigou National Park's picturesque three main valleys - Shuzheng Valley, Rize Valley, and Zechawa Valley. In order to see as much of the 108 crystal clear lakes, gorgeous waterfalls, lush protected forests, and local Tibetan villages as possible, the tour is partially done via the environmental sightseeing bus and partially on foot.

Highlights on Day 2 include Shuzheng waterfall, the Arrow Bamboo Lake waterfall, Pearl Shoals waterfall, Nuorilang waterfall, spectacular Five Color Pool, the Five Flower Lake, and Peacock Riverbed. In the evening, you will have the chance to see a local Tibetan cultural exhibition (ticket price not included). Overnight at Jiuzhaigou.

Day 03 :
One-day Hiking in Zharu Valley, approximately 15km (9 mi) hiking (B) [With local eco-tour guide]

Hike into Zharu valley and get away from the buses and crowds, into Jiuzhaigou's wilderness!

On Day 3, you will participate in the one-day eco-tour of Zharu valley, a steep limestone and granite valley. Compared to Jiuzhaigou National Park's three main valleys, Zharu Valley covers smaller area and does not boast the spectacular polychromatic lakes, but proudly stands in its tranquil and undisturbed alpine beauty. Along with a rich collection of flora and fauna, Zharu valley is home to a hidden waterfall festooned with Tibetan mantra flags and two now-unoccupied Tibetan villages. The whole area has only visited by a handful of ecotourists since it was opened to eco-tourism in 2009.

The hiking tour is suitable for all levels of fitness and experience. The local guide can adjust the length of the hiking according to your preference.

Day 04 :
Transfer to airport for flight from Jiuzhaigou; conclusion of trip (B)

Your guide and driver will see you off at Jiuzhaigou airport in time for your departure flight, which concludes the tour.

We're trying to get a grasp of what it is like to do a day trek to Zharu valley in late October.
Are there no lakes or streams or waterfalls at all? What we see on youtube are muddy trails, water crossings through dense jungle.

Hi June,

Thanks for your inquiry! This is Anita from WindhorseTour.

I would like to share with you that the day trek is along the Zharu valley where you can see grass land, sika deer, Zharu waterfall, and ancient Tibetan village.

In late October, Jiuzhaigou and Zharu valley are picturesque in autumn when the mountains, valleys, and lakes are shrouded in autumn colors. The grand vistas of yellow, red, and green are mixed with the blue and green hues of the ponds to create wonderful autumn scenes for trekking.

I have also sent you an email with detailed information, please kindly go through it and feel free to get back to me for any questions.

I will look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,
Anita

Hi Folks
can you give me a quote? We will be in Chengdu. We do not want to fly to the park. We would like to travel on land. How much for two adults and 1 child? And is lodging going to be included (and if so - where?)? Thanks -- we would want to leave Chengdu on May 7th or 8th
