This one day tour allows you to see the rural area of Tibet, in addition to its magnificent architecture and religious importance. This trip offers opportunity of a short hiking experience, and it is suitable throughout the year.
Itinerary
About 1.5 hours driving time will take you close to the Ganden Monastery, which ranks the first among the six largest monasteries of Gelugpa (Yellow hat sect). Ganden would be the best choice if you only have time for one monastery excursion outside Lhasa. It is an experience unlike other Gelugpa monasteries in Lhasa, with its stupendous views of the surrounding Kyichu Valley and fascinating kora.
Day 01

Lhasa [3,658m] - Ganden Monastery [4,500m] - Lhasa, 140KM, 3 Hours' Drive
Morning drive about 60 km eastward to Ganden Monastery, which ranks the first among the six largest monasteries of Gelugpa (Yellow hat sect). In addition to its magnificent architecture and religious importance, there is a extremely fabulous view on top of the Ganden Wangpo Hill, and Kichu valley is behind Ganden monastery, it is strongly suggested to hiking around the monastery and take a bird's-eye view of the valley. Afternoon drive back to Lhasa.
